Bio

Veronica P. Shotkoski, 84 formerly of St. Edward, NE, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward is in charge of arrangements. Veronica P. Shotkoski, daughter of Frances and Adeline (Podraza) Chlopek was born October 18, 1929 at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. She was baptized at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fullerton, attended elementary school in rural Nance County north of Fullerton, and attended St. Bonaventure School in Columbus. Veronica was united in marriage to Thomas Shotkoski on October 18, 1948 at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward. They lived west of St. Edward until 1956, and then moved to a farm north of St. Edward, where they lived and raised their family. In 1977, they moved to their farm northwest of St. Edward. In addition to being a housewife and loving mother, Veronica milked cows and helped with the farm work. Tom died in 1999. Veronica had recently been a resident of the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan home in Albion. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed gardening, visiting with family and friends, polka music and holidays. Veronica was survived by her children Patricia Luther of Columbus; Kenneth Shotkoski of Albion; William of St. Edward; Daniel and wife Madelyn of St. Edward; Peggy Wonderly and husband Jim of Wray, CO; Theresa Loughman and fiancé Lee Morris of Albion; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Frakes of Nebraska City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, daughter Susan, son Robert, 3 brothers: Joe, Frank, Ted, and 3 sisters: Claire, Elinor, and Esther
