Bio

Ophia Bland, 99, of Oaktown died at 1 p.m. Monday, August 2, 1999 in Sullivan Convalescent Center. She was born January 9, 1900 in Greene County to James Hanabil Stanley (1856-1936) and Mary Alice Murphy Stanley (1861-1922). Her husband, Ernest Bland, died in 1975. Survivors include two sons, Robert Bland and Phil Bland; three daughters, Norma Sparks, Louise Lamb and Marg Cardinal; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday in Newark Cemetery in Newark. There is no visitation. Banks & Brust Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
