Edwin F. Fahrenholz, 97 June 22, 1916 ~ April 11, 2014 Edwin was born in rural Rosalie, Nebraska on June 22, 1916 to Ervin and Florence "Jane" (Hanika) Fahrenholz. He attended rural country school and graduated from Rosalie High School. He was baptized and confirmed on the same day at the Lutheran Church in Rosalie in 1936. He did not attend college due to The Great Depression. Ed remembered well the stock market crash of October 29, 1929, when nearly all farmers lost their farms and nearly all businesses collapsed, as well as Hoover's last term, when he took no salary, and Roosevelt's "New Deal". History was Edwin's real passion. He also remembered World War II very well. He married Mildred Tonjes on December 14, 1938. He was destined to be a farmer, and loved it, beginning in Thurston County, then moving to Dixon County in 1942 to farm Northwest of Allen, where the couple raised their family. Mildred died in 1992, after 54 years of marriage. A year later he married his teenage sweetheart, Maxine Edgington. Maxine passed away in 1999. In 2001 he married Dorothy (Peters) Ellis. Dorothy passed away in 2004. Edwin had many accomplishments, including helping to organize the Northeast Experimental Farm, where he was a board member for many years. He also served two terms on the Nebraska Farm Bureau State Board, served on several insurance boards, school boards, church boards, the Clark Township Board, and he taught Sunday school for many years. He loved to live, was passionate about history and Husker football, and especially loved spending time with his family. Edwin F.
