Wellington Leader August 11, 1983 A former Dozier man, Grover Leslie (G.L.) Darrow died at Shamrock Friday, August 5. He was 80 years of age and had lived in Shamrock since 1946. Mr. Darrow came to the Dozier community in 1917 from Italy and farmed for many years. He was employed by the City of Shamrock 10 years and although he had retired, he continued to do many helpful acts for friends. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and attended the Wellington church. Born August 28, 1902, at Italy, he was the son of Roland L. Darrow and Annie Phillips Darrow. He married Miss Myrtle Wood December 4, 1921, in Collingsworth County. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Darrow of Shamrock; two daughters, Mrs. Ola Mae Nunn of Pampa and Mrs. Billie Landrum of Lubbock; one son, J.C. Darrow of Panhandle; 5 sisters, Mrs. Edna Dorsey of Tulia, Mrs. Bessie Washburn of Odessa, Mrs. Allie Barrett of Tulsa, OK, Mrs. Willie Mae Massey of Slaton, Mrs. Jewel Finch of Pomona, CA and Mrs. Alma A. Barber of Vallejo, CA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Lorene, a sister, Mrs. Ella Loyd and two brothers, Raymond Darrow and Ewell Darrow.
