Bio

John Calvin Easterwood was the son of Robert Easterwood and Elizabeth Ellen Gossett. He was born in Lowndes Co., MS. He enlisted in the Confederate Army at West Point, MS, in March of 1864. He was in Co. K, 8th MS Cavalry. Company K was known as the Oktibbeha Plough Boys. He served from March, 1864, until early 1865 when he was furloughed due to illness and was at home when the war ended. John Calvin married Mary Emma Kimbriel around 1864-1865, and they moved to Texas in the early 1890s. They probably lived around Navarro Co., TX, until they moved to Bell County, TX. James Calvin died at the home of his daughter, Ada Easterwood Love, in Corsicana, Navarro Co., TX.
