JAMES GROVES, JR. was born 25 Apr 1819, in Louisiana, son of James Groves Sr. and Mary Nash, and he died 25 Dec 1885, in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. He married NANCY PERKINS, who was born 7 Oct 1820, in Louisiana, and died 6 Aug 1902, in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. James and Nancy are buried in Glass Window Cemetery, Slagle, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. They had nine children, as follows: James Penderson Groves, 1839-1864 (killed in Maryland during Civil War) Mary Groves, 1840-1902 (married L.C.
