ST. GEORGE, UT - Virgil Hutchings, 85, died April 3, 2003 in St. George, Utah. He was born Dec. 26, 1917 in Lehi, Utah to Samuel and Alice Hutchings. He married Mary Parkin in Farmington, Utah on Dec. 19, 1936, they were later divorced. He worked for Utah Power & Light, where he met and married Veda Lucile Collard Nov. 24, 1956 in Reno, Nevada. He retired from Utah Power & Light after 39 years of service on Dec. 1, 1981. He and Lucile moved to St. George, Utah in 1981 where they enjoyed the weather, friends, golfing and Mesquite, Nevada. Virg is a member of the Bingham Canyon Firemen's Association, Utah State Firemen's Association and the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1743 in St. George. He is survived by a brother, Reid, of Cedar City, Utah; two daughters: DarLeen (Stanley) Simons of Rexburg, Idaho; and Toni Lynn (Jerry) Dumas of Fouke, Arkansas; one step-son, Dexter G. (Vera) Collard of Tempe, Arizona; one step-daughter, Peggy Collard of St. George, Utah; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a special brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Billie McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Utah; and two very good friends, Ray and Carol of St. George, Utah. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Veda Lucile; his parents; three daughters: Charleen, Virga Dee and Franki Ann; six brothers; three sisters; and stepson, Arnold Collard. At his request there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Graveside services will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E., Sandy, Utah, on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Virg suggested you take your spouse or family out to dinner.
