ORD — Eldon Hulinsky, 86, of Ord died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Valley View Living Center in Ord. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Rev. Josh Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ord VFW Post 7029 and American Legion Post 38. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Hulinsky was born June 7, 1927, in rural Garfield County near Burwell to Frank and Lillian (Codr) Hulinsky. Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Ord; two daughters, Donna Lay of West Plains, Mo., and Annette Hulinsky of Grand Island; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lyle Hulinsky of Grand Island, and Ben and Janet Hulinsky of Westmoreland, Kan.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Lorraine Hulinsky of Burtrum, Minn.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bud Heil of Loup City. He was raised on a farm in the Burwell area where he received his education and graduated from Burwell High School in 1945. Following graduation, Eldon entered the United States Army. He was a part of the Occupation Forces in Tokyo, Japan, during World War II and served as a clerk typist at the Army Hospital. After the Army, Eldon was united in marriage to Bessie Shepperd on March 27, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burwell. The couple farmed in the Geranium Township in Valley County, west of Ord. In 1984, they sold the farm and moved into Ord. Eldon worked in various jobs, including driving a bus for the Ord District Schools and as a janitor at the Ord Veterans Club. He was a member of American Legion Post 38, and VFW Post 7029, and had served as Post Commander. Eldon enjoyed gardening, polka dances, listening to music, and enjoying good Czech food. He had a special love for the land, farming and caring for animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Seidel.
