ROSIE L. CHALUPA Rosie Lucille (Brim) Chalupa, 83, of Sargent, Nebraska, passed away on March 7, 2000, at her home. Rosary services were held Thursday, March 9, 2000, Rhoad Funeral Home. Funeral mass was held Friday, March 10, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sargent, Nebraska, with Father Bernard Berger officiating. St Mary's Choir with Dan Sasek as organist provided the music. Pallbearers were Jim Scott, Brad Chalupa, Jason Buckbee, Jerry Scott, Bill Chalupa, and Bobby Chalupa. Honorary pallbearers were John Gill, Louie Brim, Jim O'Neill, Ralph Casteel, Joe Horky, Don Tinkham, Alvin Smolik, and Raymond Tinkham. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sargent, Nebraska. Rhoad Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Rosie was bom March 13,1916, and was the daughter of Barbara Rosie (Slegel) and Frank Martin Brim. She attended country school at Roe Grove and graduated from Sargent High School with the Class of 1934. For the next few years, she taught at Phillipsburg, Longwood, Glacier, and Mt. Pleasant country schools. On May 22,1944, Rosie was united in marriage to Edward August Chalupa in Sargent, NE. The couple lived on a farm east of Sargent for the first three years of their mamcd life. In 1947, they moved to the Brim home farm where she was born. To this union, three children were bom, Richard, Carolyn, and Donald. Upon their retirement in 1997, Ed and Rosie moved into their home in Sargent. Rosie enjoyed her many crafts, gardening, canning and preserving, and baking her specialities, kolaches and rohlicki. She also enjoyed her card clubs and going to garage sales with friends. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed keeping in touch with her grandchildren's lives. Rosie was a long-time member of the Altar Society, was active in the Senior Citizens Group, and a past member of the Better Homemakers Extension Club. Rosie is survived by her husband Edward; three children, Richard (Marilyn) of Muncie, IN, Carolyn Buckbee (Dennis) of Lincoln, NE, and Donald (Kay) of Columbus, OH, five grandchildren, Neil Chalupa, Muncie, IN, Michaela and Jason Buckbee, Lincoln, NE, and Lauren and Allison Chalupa, Columbus, OH, one brother, Frank (Viola) Brim, Sargent, and two sisters, Alice (Leonard-deceased) Chalupa, Sargent, and Lorraine (Ralph) Scott, Ansley, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, two infant brothers, and an infant granddaughter, Jenna Irene Chalupa. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
