!OBITUARY:Amarillo Globe-News (TX) - September 2, 2004 Deceased Name: R.T. "Windy" Wood R.T. "Windy" Wood, 84, of Amarillo, formerly of Claude, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Claude Cemetery in Claude with the Rev. Lance Wood officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Wood loved music. His greatest love in life was recording and sharing his new musical creations with friends and family. Windy loved people and enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone. He knew people from all over the world through his music and enjoyed keeping in touch with them through mail and telephone. He was a man that called everyone friend, even people he had never met, he considered all friends. Windy loved his family; they were very important to him. He loved to tell people about his 56-year marriage to his wife, Veral Lynn. "Not many musicians live with the same woman that long," he'd say. Windy received a lot of joy playing and doing specials for church groups. In later years, he volunteered for rest homes, where he played and sang. He always felt so blessed to be able to entertain the elderly and shut-ins. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jo Carolyn Bailey of Pampa; a son, Jerry Glenn Wood of Sturgis, S.D.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
