Bio
Roy John Remmert, 91, a lifetime resident of Taylor passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 in a Round Rock Nursing Home. He was born on June 6, 1918 in the Wuthrich Hill Community, the son of Fritz and Ida (Meiske) Remmert. On June 8, 1947 he married Irene Scheer. He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Roy retired as a supervisor in 1980 after more than 30 years of service at Superior Dairies. Roy was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army (’1941 to 1945) with Battery B of the 124th Field Artillery Battalion in the South Pacific Theater. Roy was a member and past Commander of the Taylor VFW Post #4476, a member of the Taylor American Legion, a past member of the Taylor Volunteer Fire department and Taylor Sons of Hermann. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Remmert of Taylor; daughter, Linda Jones and husband David of Hoxie; two sons, Ronald Remmert and wife Kay of Elgin and Curtis Remmert and wife Pam of Bastrop; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Hammack and husband Michael, Cynthia Gonzales and husband Andrew, Karen Remmert, Craig Remmert, Debbie Burnett, Kevin Jones and wife Loris and Stephanie Jones; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his two dogs Mazie and Bootsie. Honorary pallbearers are Gaylon Remmert and Melvin Remmert. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Jones, Michael Hammack, Craig Remmert, Andrew Gonzales, Nathan Arnhamn and Donavon Woolley. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Condra Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor City Cemetery. Condra Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
