Bio

Early Life: Jack was born July 29, 1934, in Springville, Utah, to Guy Harrington and Norma Eddy Bird. He was raised in Springville, Utah, graduating from Springville High School. Life's Work/Service/Interests: Following high school graduation, Jack joined the National Guard. He then worked as a surveyor for the government and later, joined the Springville Police Department. He left the police force to work for Geneva Steel as a Railroad Engineer; retiring after 29 years. For seven years, while working for Geneva Steel, Jack was one of the first to serve as an ambulance volunteer for Springville City. Jack was also a crossing guard for Springville. On June 23, 1955, Jack married Colleen Frost; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah LDS Temple on November 16, 1971. Jack was a member of the LDS Church, holding various callings. John Oliver "Jack" Bird passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79. Survived By: His second wife, Joanne Bowers Bird; son, John (Michelle) Bird; son-in-law, Kirk Roberts; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; Joanne's four children: Terry, Ann, Jack and Jill; her 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
