Robert Grant Bird 1927 - 2013 VETERAN Early Life: Robert was born February 11, 1927, in Springville, Utah, to Guy Harrington and Norma Showell Eddy Bird. He attended Springville High School and was never able to graduate, he was drafted, in the last part of his senior year, into the United States Army during World War II. He went to Korea under the title of "Occupation of Korea." After returning back home from the war, he worked several jobs to support his family. Life's Work | Service | Interests: On March 18, 1948, Robert married his sweetheart of 64 years, Donna Rowene Huff, in Spanish Fork, Utah; they were later sealed in the Manti Utah Temple as a family on April 18, 1964. He had previously married Violet Fay Waine in 1945; they later divorced. Robert was a man of great strength, courage, love and a hard worker. He always supported his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many activities. He especially loved his family. He is member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed traveling, camping and hunting throughout the years with family and friends. He was also a baseball coach. He worked for JM Sumsion Construction and Valley Asphalt Company for 33 plus years; a member of Operating Engineer Union and VFW. Robert Grant Bird, 86, died peacefully at his home on December 29, 2013, surrounded by his family. He watched his children take their first breath into life, they watched him take his last breath. Now a new journey begins. Survived By: His wife; his children: Pat (Ray) Crane, Randall G. (Kathy) Bird, Denise (Keith) Dallin, Jayne Ann (Stephen) Bills, Linda (Trent) Hoover; brother, Jack O. Bird and sister-in-law, Louise Bird; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren. Preceded In Death By: His parents; his brothers, Leray and N.
