Juanita Fern Goehring Baker, 73, of Angleton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 31, 2014, after a long illness. She was born to James August and Daisy Fern Bolin Goehring on December 26, 1940, in Wharton, Texas. Juanita received her Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education from the University of Houston — Clear Lake. She taught school for many years starting in Danbury and retiring from Rasco Middle School in Brazosport ISD. She had a deep love for travel, having been to Alaska, Germany and Saudi Arabia and many places within the US. She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church in Angleton where she taught many Bible study classes over the years. Before her illness, she had joined Greater Heights Baptist Church. She dearly loved her children and her joy was watching her eight grandchildren growing up. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Goehring. She is survived by her children, Charlotte LaVerne and husband, Royce, of Oak Ridge North, Cindy Davis and husband, Rodney, of Angleton, Patti Louwerse and husband, Dave, of Oak Ridge North, and son, Timothy (T.C.) Baker and wife, Melissa McLeod, of Pearland; grandchildren, Emily Dowty and husband, Corey, of Angleton, Brent Davis and fiancee, Heather Gilder, of Angleton, Aaron Davis and wife, Abby, of Brazoria, Zane Kallus, of Victoria, Taliese LaVerne, John Louwerse, and Daniel LaVerne, all of Oak Ridge North, Isaac Miller, of Tomball and Brendan Baker, of Michigan City, Indiana; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Adaleigh Dowty and Elizabeth Davis. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Palms Funeral Home with burial to be in Angleton Cemetery.
