Houston Chronicle, December 14, 2005: Edvin (Ed) Ludwig, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Born the fifth of eight children on October 12, 1915 to Christian (Christ) John and Wilhelmia (Minnie) Ludwig of Beasley, Tx., Ed retired from the Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 40 years, and he was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army's 36th Infantry Division, Service Company, 141st Infantry Regiment for which he received a meritorious conduct citation. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, James Allen Barron. Ed, loving husband, father, and friend, is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Alma Kneitz Ludwig; three children, Jim Ludwig and wife, Judy, of Livingston, TX, Judy Ludwig of Lombard, IL, and Linda Barron and husband, Allen, of Missouri City, TX; five grandchildren, David Barron and wife, Beth, Steven Barron, Michael Barron and wife, Heather, Allison Barron, and Shenan Hoppe-Ludwig; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Emily, Alexa, and Madilyn; three brothers, Otto Ludwig, Louis Ludwig, and Reuben Ludwig; one brother-in-law, Douglas Hyatt; as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 6700 Ferris, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2005, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd., with Rev John Rooney, celebrant. Rite of Committal will be at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 BF Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, TX. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be given in memory of Ed to the charity of your choice.
