Bio
Carrie was the daughter of Charles B. & Ellen (Porter) Sharp, Ohio natives. Her father was a carpenter and the family moved from Ohio to York county, NE in the late 1890's. Her parents moved to Yuma county, Colorado where her mother died in 1928, her father was still living in Kit Carson county, CO in 1930. Carrie married John Helzer around 1907 (probably in York county, NE) They lived in York county for a few years and then moved to Milford, NE. Around 1919, they moved to a farm in Kit Carson county, CO, probably following her parents. John went back to work for the railroad in the 1920's and they lived in the Winnebago, NE area of Thurston county until the late 1930's when the railroad job moved them to Oakland, NE. John and Carrie had children: Charles H., Howard, Irene A., Betty Jane, and John Wesley (died 2002, buried in Oakland Cemetery).
