Murphy CHESTNUT - Bunnie L. Murphy, 80, of Chestnut died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski. He was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Decatur, the son of Bunn H. and Irma Weatherly Murphy. He married Betty J. Young in 1947 in Gays. Mr. Murphy graduated from Sullivan High School in 1944. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as a fertilizer plant manager from Kaiser Agriculture Chemical Plant after 25 years. He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church, Laenna Cemetery Board, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Board, Chestnut School Board and Chestnut-Beason American Legion Post 848. He served as president of the Beason-Chestnut Water District and assistant fire chief for the Chestnut Fire Department and worked for Aetna Township. Survivors: wife, Betty; three sons, Roger L. (wife, Rexanna) Murphy of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Alan R. (wife, Maryan) and Gregory L. (wife, Martha Rehder) Murphy, both of Chestnut; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Pulaski Christian Church, Jeremy Thomason and Roger Murphy officiating. Interment: Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is in charge of arrangements.
