Mary E. Fowler, 89, of Rock Island passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Amber ridge Memory Care center Moline. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Hodgson Funeral Home Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Garden. Mary Benton was born May 1, 1924 in Fayette County Alabama to Martin & Verla (Langston) Benton. She was united in marriage to Oscar Colburn on August 12, 1945 in Fayette County Alabama. He preceded her in death September 2, 1975. Mary then married Calvin Fowler in June of 2002 and he preceded her in 2012. Mary had worked at Service Rubber in Rock Island for 33 years retiring in 1998. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where she was active with senior citizens & babysitting. Survivors include Grandchildren Edie Quilty, Rock Island & Lawrence Colburn, St. Charles, IL; great grandchildren Andrew Herrick, Elaina Quilty, Maria Quilty, Ella Colburn, Oscar Colburn; and a sister Merel Webb. Mary was preceded in death by her two husbands, a son Roy Colburn and a great grandson Alex Herrick.
