Emma Berndt Sprott Carroll Gilliam "Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Freeport Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Emma Gilliam, 59, of Velasco, who died Saturday in a local hospital. A resident of Velasco for the past eight years, Mrs. Gilliam was born on April 13, 1892. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Nell Langham of Caldwell, Texas; Mrs. Lucille Speed, Alvin; Mrs. Glendola Houston, Clute; a son, R.J. Sprott, New Iberia, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Slama, Cameron, Texas; Mrs. Ida Spacek, Caldwell, and Mrs. Alma Christ, Freeport; and seven grandchildren. Interment was in Restwood Cemetery."
