Bio

Marie's mother died when she was only two months old, so she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Anna & William Scheinost, who raised her. She grew up in Spencer and came to Fremont in her high school years, graduating from Fremont High in 1945. She then worked for the former Woolworth's 5 & 10 in downtown Fremont. She married Gerald D. Johnson on March 15, 1947, at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. They lived in Iowa for three years, then returned to Fremont. After raising her children, she worked for A&W Root Beer for nine years, then went to work for McDonald's here when they first opened, working 19 years there. She was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church. Gerald and Marie had children: Mary Ann, Patti, Dale and Mark. Marie passed away at the A.J. Merrick Manor, her funeral was 5 Feb 2004 at the Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont, of which she was a member.
