Bio

Helen Laura Tomecek Jan. 27, 1905 — Nov. 20, 2002 BUFFALO — Services for Helen Laura Tomecek, 97, of Buffalo are set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Buffalo Funeral Home. The Rev. Gene Cotner will officiate. Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Tomecek died Wednesday at the Buffalo Nursing Home. Born in Dewitt County, she lived in Leon County most of her life and was a nurse at Rusk State Hospital. Mrs. Tomecek and her husband, Oscar Breiten, owned the first convenience store in Buffalo. She was a member of the Stewart United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Oscar Breiten Jr. and L.E. Tomecek. Survivors include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
