James F. Kocian Posted: Monday, May 9, 2005 12:00 am James F. Kocian, 61, of Gonzales, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 in Gonzales. He was born February 28, 1944 in Lavaca County to Ignac Julius and Tracy Marie Okruhlik Kocian. He worked for Raymond Malatek as a carpenter before going to work for the Texas Highway Department where he had retired as a supervisor in 1995 after 25 years of service. He attended Monthalia United Methodist Church. He married Evelyn A. Neubauer on September 8, 1966 in Gonzales. He was also a member of American Legion of Yoakum, National Rifle Association, Hermann Sons Lodge. His passions were being outdoors and deer hunting where he was often found hunting in New Mexico and Colorado. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Kocian; his mother, Tracy Marie Kocian of Gonzales; two daughters, Donna M. Law and husband Robin of Cost and Pat Yeschke and husband Bill of Inez; and one son, Wayne Aschenbeck of Gonzales; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; an infant sister and his daughter-in-law, Eugenie Aschenbeck. Funeral services were held at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005 with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial followed at the Shiner City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gregory Aschenbeck, Danny Aschenbeck, Alan Aschenbeck, Keith Bell, Scooter Law, James Homer Whiteley. Memorials may be made to the Monthalia United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society. Seydler-Hill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
