Bio

Larry Campsey, 70, of Quanah, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in Wichita Falls. Services Friday, Feb. 21, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating. Interment will follow in Goodlett Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Campsey was born Jan. 28, 1944, in Childress, a son of the late Joseph E. and Grace Campsey. He married Lerline McKeaver on June 3, 1966, in Goodlett. He lived all of his life in the Hardeman County area. He was an elder at the First Christian Church. He did oilfield work and dirt construction. He owned Campsey Backhoe, Ditching, Welding and Roustabout for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Campsey and Howard Campsey, and by a sister, Louise Havins. Survivors include his wife, Lerline Campsey of Quanah; one son, Shane Campsey and wife Stacy of Goliad; one daughter, Kristi Mahan and husband Mike of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
