HICKMAN – David L. Sedlacek, 62, of Hickman, died Jan. 16 in Salem, Ore. He was born Dec. 4, 1947, to Ignac and Fidelis (Ladenburger) Sedlacek in Wahoo. He grew up on the family farm near Prague. He graduated from Prague High School in 1966 and attended Milford Southeast Community College for construction management. He retired as a project engineer after 30 years with Burlington Northern Santa Fe and was currently working in Oregon as a railroad construction consultant. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David; his father-in-law, Merle Willet and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, of Hickman; his parents of Prague; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Keller Kopf of New South Wales, Australia; son, Patrick Sedlacek of Doniphan; step-daughter Megan Sieckmeyer and Brandon of Lincoln; one grandson, Caden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Marlene Sedlacek of Kansas City, Kan., Daniel Sedlacek of Lakemoor, Ill., Dwayne and Kim Sedlacek of Prague; a sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Ken Kielniarg of Omaha; his mother-in-law, Helen Willet and Doc; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Sharon Hofeling; many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral mass was held Jan. 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln with Father Kenneth Borowiak officiating. A private graveside service was held Jan. 31 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Prague. Published by Wahoo Newspaper from Feb. 2 to Feb. 10, 2010.
