KERRVILLE - Mr. James Vernon Fisher Sr., age 85, of Kerrville, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in a local retirement center. A resident of Kerrville since 1974, he was born Feb. 11, 1913 in Bay City, Texas. A member of Christian Faith, he worked for Texaco for 36 years as a laboratory technician in Port Arthur. A veteran of World War II, he was an ensign with the Maritime Services, serving in both the Pacific and the Atlantic until the end of the war. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 208 of Kerrville, an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to the NRA. On April 5, 1998, he celebrated 58 years of marriage to Pearl Ellen Johnson. They were married in Houston, Texas, in the Second Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Fisher of Kerrville; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Murphy of Texarkana, Ark.; a number of nieces and nephews including Ken and Ann Tyner of Ingram, and Jane and Steve Mohnke of Kerrville; and several great- nieces and nephews. A son, James Vernon Fisher Jr., preceded his father in death in 1988. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Kerrville Funeral Home, with Dr. Thomas Currie officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
