Bio
Rose Marie Karnik, a longtime resident of Cheyenne County, Nebraska died early Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care, Sidney, Nebraska. Rose Marie, the daughter of Anton and Matilda Tresnak, was born on June 7, 1919 in Dodge, Nebraska. Rose Marie was preceded in death by: loving husband, Allen Frank Karnik, who passed in 2010 and brothers and sisters: Joe Tresnak, Fr. Anthony Tresnak, Emily Sladovnik and Betty Emanuel. Rose Marie was married to Allen Frank Karnik, son of Dr. Jerome and Rosalie Karnik, on Feb. 5, 1940 in Dodge, Nebraska. They moved to a farm North of Potter, Nebraska in the 1940's. They moved to Sidney, Nebraska in 1951 where Rose Marie was a legal secretary and also worked in the office of Egging Cab Company. Rose Marie was active in the Sidney (NE.) Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Daughters of America, and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, dancing and traveling. They had a winter home in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed many winters with their friends. Rose Marie is survived by: son, Gary Karnik and his wife Kathy of Ft. Collins, Colorado; daughter, Judy Paulson and her husband, Clayton, of Clovis, California; grandchildren, Todd Karnik of Denver, Colorado, Lisa Anderson of Topeka, Kansas, Lori Henne of Scottsdale, Arizona and Trisha Peterson of Coalinga, California; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Rose Marie was preceded in death by: granddaughter, Kristin King and two infants who died in infancy. A Memorial Mass was held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sidney, Nebraska with Father Art Faesser as officiator. Inurnment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Sidney, Nebraska.
