George Cihacek services held on March 8 George (Chic) Cihacek, 78, of Schuyler, died March 4 at Memorial Hospital in Schuyler. Services were held Tuesday, March 8, from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler with Father Ralph Lammers officiating. Crystal Rook was soloist and Libby Viglicky was organist. Pallbearers were Lumir Uher, Jim Conrad, Fred Woods, Adolph Hladky, Morris Vavricek, Delwayne Pavel, Roy Bower, Jim Ingram, Robert Rook, and Lawrence Ritzdorf. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Linwood. George was born July 7, 1915, at Abie to Frank and Clara Blatny Cihacek. He graduated from Linwood High School in 1933. On August 27, 1940, he was married to Rose Anne Fendrich Moravek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. He was a tire salesman for Pokorny Oil Co. in Schuyler from 1940 to 1980. He was a member of the Catholic Workmen and founder of the Loup Valley Gem and Mineral Society. A past volunteer fireman, he taught rock identification and labidary at Platte College in Columbus. He was a band leader of Chick Sparrow and played in the Silver Moon Orchestra. Survivors include a wife, Rose of Schuyler; a son, Don of Fountain Hills, Ariz., one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Rook of Lincoln; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
