Leon Emil "Lee" Vojtech, age 81, of Athens passed away Tuesday January 7, 2014 at his residence. A native of North Bend, Nebraska and a resident of McMinn County for the past 25 years, he was the son of the late James V. and Alice R. Jambor Vojtech and was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hampton Vojtech, on March 26, 2010. He was a member at St. Marys Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of VFW Post # 5146, the American Legion Post #68 and was an Airman 1st Class of the U.S. Air Force. He was also an avid gardener and bowler, having competed in the Senior Olympics. He retired from Eastern Airlines after 30 years of service. Survivors include the mother of his children, Kitty Vojtech; two sons, Brad Vojtech of Palm Beach, Florida and Todd Vojtech of Athens; four daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Chuck Lynch of Tullahoma, Vicki Vojtech of Yulee, Florida, Lisa and Jhett Amesbury of Niceville, Florida, and Leigh and Erik James of Athens; one brother, David Vojtech of Ralston, Nebraska; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Janice and John Hobza of Omaha, Nebraska, and Carol and Ron Kratky of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass was held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Father Randy Stice officiating. A graveside service followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Rosary was at 5:30 and the family received friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Lung Association, The American Heart Association or Breast Cancer Awareness.
