From The Ord Quiz, Feb 8, 1973, Section 2, P. 1, Col 4: Obituary of Mrs. Antonia John - Funeral services for Mrs. Antonia John were held Tuesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Mrs. John, 92, died February 2 at the Sargent Nursing home. Father Stanley Gorak officiated at the 10 AM services. Mrs. Audrey Novosad, and Mrs. Nancy Vogeler sang "Going Down the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. Elsie Furtak, organist. Pallbearers were Robert Waldmann, LaVerne Veleba, Marvin Setlik, Jack Koll, Robert John and Emil John. Burial was in the Ord Cemetery. Antonia (Jarusek) John was born September 8, 1880 in Zbesicky, Czechoslovakia and came to Valley County at age 12 with 2 sisters and a brother. On July 11, 1898 she was united in marriage to Jacob John at the Geranium Catholic Church. They were farmers in the Geranium community until retiring and moving to Ord in 1927. Her husband died Nov 10, 1939. Survivors are one daughter, Hattie Waldman and one son Rudolph John, both of Ord; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
