Bio

Mattie was born the eldest child of Ulyses Comodore and Clara D Abbott Dixon. She was also the granddaughter of Andrew Johnston & Louisa Vaughn Dixon and William & Annie Abbott. Mattie Lou married Milford Hale Evans June 6, 1937. I am uncertain if they had children. In the 1940 Ada, Pontotoc Co, OK census, Milford and Mattie live at 313 Rennie St in Ada. Mattie is 32 and a primary school teacher, having completed 4 years of college. Milford is 31 and is a Baptist minister there in Ada. In 1942, Milford & Louise are living in Frankfort, IN. In 1951, Mattie traveled abroad departing from San Francisco, CA to Yokohama Japan and returned to San Francisco aboard the ship USS General WA Mann on Dec 1, 1951. Her place of birth was recorded on the passenger crew list, as well as being age 44, married female with 14 pieces of luggage. Her address is reported to be 400 S Rennie Av in Ada, OK. She departed Yokohama on Nov 21, 1951 and was in the Cabin & Troop Class. It would appear she had visited Milford who served in the Army during WWII.
