Information from obituary printed in the Fremont Tribune Newspaper, March 08, 2004 Mary B. Samek, 91, of Wahoo died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. Mary Sabata was born May 1, 1912, in David City. She attended elementary School in rural Butler County, near David City. She married Alois W. "Jim" Samek on Nov. 22, 1932, in Appleton. She was employed at Coast to Coast Store in David City. After moving to Wahoo in 1965, she worked as a caretaker at Kennedy College. She also was employed at Saunders County Community Hospital in Wahoo and as a baker at the former Fairview Cafe in Wahoo. She assisted her husband with the family business, Samek's Mower Shop, in Wahoo until he retired in 1989. Her spouse preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1999. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo and St. Ludmilla Guild of Wahoo. Survivors include: two sons and a daughter, 15 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two brothers and three sisters. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Burial will at St. Mary Cemetery in David City.
