Son of Malachai Reeves, Jr. and Elizabeth Robeson. There was a survey done of the Weaverville Cemetery before 1993; that survey shows a stone for this person. The Weaverville Cemetery was first named Rims Creek Methodist Church Cemetery, organized in 1805. Thomas Hartwell Reeves, 81, of Asheville, died September 16, 1947 in an Asheville Nursing Home. He was born August 24, 1866 in Madison County, and was a son of Malachi "Mallie", Jr. and Elizabeth [Robeson] Reeves. On September 4, 1890, he married Annie May Reagan, daughter of James A. and Mary [Weaver] Reagan, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He first attended school in Madison County and in the fall of 1887, he entered Weaver College from which he was graduated. He taught school for a number of years. He entered the drug store business as a pharmacist with J. A. Reagan (father-in-law) in Weaverville. He later purchased the business and operated it under the firm name of T. H. Reeves for 29 years. In 1921, he was appointed Deputy Register of Deeds for Buncombe County and served in this position until he was appointed as Treasurer of Buncombe County in March 1923. Later, he was elected as Buncombe County Treasurer and served in this position for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie May, and a son, Philip Reagan Reeves. Survivors include a son, James Frederick Reeves, and a daughter, Lucy Tom "Tomsie" Reeves DeNardo. Burial was in Weaverville Cemetery on September 18, 1947.
