He was married to Ermine Caroline Amos in 24 Dec 1896 in Upshur County, Texas . They had six children, Una E, Berniece, Gwinn Augusta, Boyd, Joe Amos and Fred. Augustus was the manager of Palmetto Lumber Company in Oakhurst, San Jacinto County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a LOYALTY RANGER from June 5, 1918 until February of 1919. By 1920 he was the manager of a lumber mill in Jasper, Jasper County, Texas.
