OBITUARY: Mrs. Emma Graber, daughter of Martin J. and Barbara Roth Eicher was born 12/10/1869 in Washington County near Noble Iowa. All of her life was spent at or near her place of birth. Upon profession of faith in Christ she became a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and later transferred her membership to the Eicher church. She showed a deep concern for the preaching of the word of God and was always so thankful for the message of the gospel. On December 21, 1893 she was united in marriage to John W. Graber. To this union were born three sons, Earl L., Henry of Wayland, and Lee Emerson of Denver, Colorado. After some 45 years of married life her husband preceded her in death on August 15, 1939. During the last years she made her home with her son Earl in Wayland, Iowa who ablely assisted his mother in her declining years. During the past years she suffered a great deal of bodily pain but showed unusual strength in keeping going and attending to many of the duties around the home. Last Friday morning she gave evidence that she was again suffering a great deal and the family thought perhaps it would pass over again. She was conscious until about 15 minutes before her passing which came at 5:45 on Saturday evening, February 18th. She reached the ripe old age of 80 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She was one of a family of 13 children. 7 preceded her in death but two brothers and 3 sisters are still living: William R. Eicher, Wayland; Daniel Eicher, Milford, Nebraska; Mrs. Barbara Conrad, Smithville, Ohio; Mrs. Sarah Boshart, Manson, Iowa; Mrs. Caroline Wyse, Wayland, Iowa. She leaves four grandchildren, Warren Graber, Mrs. Dorothy Mallory, Mrs. Anna Mae Huffer, and Miss Barbara Graber and two great-grandchildren Melody Mallory, and Robert Graber. Mrs. Graber will be greatly missed in the home, the church and the community, however she by faith inherited a better place, and we would not seek to recall her from her place of glory and reward.
