Thanks to contributor #48796369. Gertrude Waskowiak, 90, of St. Paul, formerly of Loup City, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Reginald A. Urban and Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery at Ashton. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with a sodality rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Waskowiak was born on Feb. 17, 1909, on a farm in Howard County near Farwell to Martin and Agnes (Tyma) Krolikowski. The family later moved to a farm in Sherman County. She attended Sherman County District 56 School and St. Francis Parochial School in Ashton. She married Andrew Waskowiak on April 26, 1926, in Ashton. The couple farmed in the Schaupps area east of Loup City. They retired and moved into Loup City. Mr. Waskowiak died on Feb. 5, 1995, and Mrs. Waskowiak moved to Heritage Living Center in July 1995. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and playing cards. Mrs. Waskowiak was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Rosary Sodality and St. Ann's Quilters. Survivors include eight daughters, Rita (Mrs. Paul) Gorecki of Farwell, Evelyn Gorecki of St. Paul, Leona Bendykowski of Arcadia, Alta (Mrs. Clemence) Mostek of Loup City, Adeline (Mrs. Reginald) Jonak and Loretta (Mrs. Edward) Hulinsky, both of Ashton, Emily (Mrs. Bill) Gregoski and Jo Ann (Mrs. Bernard) Danczak, both of St. Paul; 43 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Lucille Gawrick of Lincoln, Theresa Woltman of Loup City and Esther Baker of Ashton; and two brothers, Ignatz Krolikowski and Alozy Krolikowski, both of Ashton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Vernie Lubash; and one brother, Victor Krolikowski.
