Bio
Evelyn Elaine Hintz Karnes Hicks January 1, 1933 ~ November 26, 2013 Her parents were Ivan Carl Hintz and Dora Freda Hintz in Coleridge NE. Her family moved out west from Nebraska in 1935 and eventually settling in the OntarioVale, OR area to farm. Evelyn graduated from Vale High school in 1950, where she ran on the track team, played clarinet in the band, and was a 4H member. Through 4H, she became friends with Mayann Wroten, Evelyn was invited for four summers to help work cattle for the Wroten family in Jordan Valley, OR. When she was 16, Mr. and Mrs. Wroten gave her a two year old pinto horse, she named him Lightning. She spent many enjoyable years training and riding him. Evelyn moved to Boise in 1950 and married Ramon C Karnes in 1954, lived in the San Jose, CA area until moving back to Boise when she divorced in 1977. She had two children, Joseph R Karnes Eagle, ID and Christina L Karnes, Boise ID. Evelyn married Paul C Hicks 1986 and divorced 2002. Evelyn accepted Jesus as her personal savior when she was nine and was a life-long Christian. She enjoyed being a servant to Jesus, helping and caring for others. She was most recently a member of Vineyard Christian Fellowship and prior to that, Boise Valley Christian Communion. Evelyn was a full charge bookkeeper and credit manager. She loved to sing and dance, enjoyed learning crafts and continuing education classes. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; and older brother, John A Hintz. She is survived by her children; and two brothers, James F Hintz of Payette, ID and Thomas D Hintz of Scappoose OR and their families. Thank you to the Ashley Manor Cloverdale and Auburn Crest Hospice staffs for their excellent care. Thanks to Paul Hicks for his friendship to her these last years.
