Thanks to contributor #47187161; CEDAR RAPIDS Lucille C. Swerczek, 86, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday with a 4 p.m. rosary at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will continue at 7 p.m. Monday at the church with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Swerczek was born on Aug. 3, 1912, on a farm north of Cedar Rapids to Peter and Lulu (Murphy) Homan. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She received her elementary education at St. Anthony's Catholic School and graduated from high school in 1931. She married Walter Swerczek on Feb. 25, 1936, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They farmed north of Cedar Rapids until 1979, when they moved to Cedar Rapids. She was a homemaker. He died on Feb. 15, 1993. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou (Mrs. Tom) Padraza of Columbus and Delores (Mrs. Dick) Podraza of Omaha; three sons, Dr. Tom Swerczek of Lexington, Ky., Dr. Robert Swerczek of Omaha and Steve Swerczek of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Kopecki of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband; three granddaughters, Amy Swerczek, Lori O'Hearn and Sarah Meier; one infant grandson Terrance; and one sister, Margaret Faust. The Grand Island Independent
