Bio

BOOHER Dr. David Oscar Booher, 80, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, July 13, 2007. Born in Albany, KY to Jonathan & Alice Booher, David was a loving & devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather & friend. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and served as a surgeon on the front lines in the US Army during the Korean War. Dr. Booher practiced general surgery for many years at St. Luke's Hospital and was a member of the Duval County Medical Society, the Florida Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. Along with spending time with his family, his passion was flying his plane. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Booher and brother-in-law, John Carmichael, he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo P. Booher; children, Jeff Booher (Kim), Steve Booher (Christy) & Linda Reape (Tom); sisters, Sara Carmichael & Elizabeth Jones (Dick); grandchildren, Jason, Brianna, Courtney, Kiara, baby David on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends. A memorial service celebrating Dr. Booher's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Lakewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Sherman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Manor or Lakewood United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue.
