Bio

Marcella Rosina Hunt, 92, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Born January 10, 1921 in Thedford Nebraska to Joseph and Ellen (McCawley) Carter. She graduated from Morrowville High School in 1938 and taught at Lindsey country school until 1940. She graduated from Kansas State in 1944 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. She taught high school in Enterprise and Washington High Schools in Kansas. She returned to Lincoln, and conducted nutrition and food research at the Food Research Laboratory of UNL's East Campus in the Home Economics department. She married Wilmer Hunt on September 2, 1950. Marcella loved animals, especially cats, and enjoyed playing pitch, growing roses, and playing in pinochle tournaments. She was a member of the county extension of over 40 years. Survived by brother Louis (Iola) Carter of Morrowville Kansas, sons Dennis of Aurora Nebraska, Gerald (Mary) Hunt of Omaha Nebraska, Philip (Zita) Hunt of Worthington Ohio; daughters Anne (Frank) Mohr of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mary (Bill) Stahly of Lincoln Nebraska and 9 grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Wilmer, brothers Charles and Mark and sisters, Mary Ellen, Rose, and Mildred. An originating member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln, she enjoyed service to her church as a member of the altar society. Visitation: 6 pm, Thursday at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, followed by the rosary at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 am Friday at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 1940 South 77th Street, Lincoln. Graveside service following lunch meal at Calvary Cemetery.
