Grand Warren Fox, the sixth eldest child of John and Fannie (Ellinger) Fox, was born July 19, 1906 at Grand Forks, North Dakota, and passed away at the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Nebraska, on Sunday, March 25, 1984, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert, Millard and an infant brother at birth. He has left to mourn his passing, five sisters, Mrs. Edith Bockman, Puyallup, Washington, Mrs. Fanny Belle, Los Altos, California, Mrs. Ruth Decker, Wauneta, Nebraska, Mrs. Pearl Smith, Alameda, California and Mrs. Agnes Ross, Aurora, Nebraska. Two brothers, Gale of Norfolk, Nebraska and John Jr. of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. One sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Grant moved with his folks to Stockham, Nebraska, in 1913, where his dad was railroad foreman for the next 20 years. He attended school at Stockham and graduated in 1925. He was the captain of the 1925 state champion basketball team. After his graduation he worked for his father on the railroad at Stockham until his parents moved to Beaver Crossing, Nebraska in May of 1933. He then helped his brother Millard manage a hardware store at Stockham for a few years. He moved to Beaver Crossing and lived with his parents and worked as a clerk in Rediger's Hardware Store. He was deducted into the service in May 1942, and due to a hand disability was discharged in a short time. He moved to Aurora, Nebraska, and lived with his sister Agnes and family after his father's death. He worked at the Red and White Grocery Store in Aurora until he retired. Grant was never married. He loved to fish and hunt. He spent a lot of time after he retired fishing, until he was unable to do so any longer. Grant was a loveable person to his nieces and nephews. He loved them very much.
