Funeral Services Held Thursday For Mrs. Reed Services for Juanita Boggess Reed, 83, of Friona were held Thursday at 6th Street Church of Christ with Leon Talley, minister, officiating. Burial was in Friona Cemetery under the direction of Ellis-Blackwelll Funeral Home. Juanita was born March 30, 1914 in Woodward County Oklahoma to Ed and Bessie Boggess. She died on November 11, 1997 at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 12 days. Juanita moved with her family to five and one half miles South of Friona in 1927. She attended schools in Oklahoma and Friona. Juanita married Bud Reed August 16, 1931 in Portales, New Mexico. They attended the Friona Methodist Church. Three children, Ralph Raymond, Patsy Jane and Roberta Lea, were born to this union. Juanita was a homemaker. She also worked at Dilger's Cleaners until she and Bud purchased Dilger's Cleaners in 1957, changing the name to Reed's Cleaners. They operated the cleaners until their retirement in 1980. Juanita was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church; Friona Women's Club; Friona Rebekah Lodge No. 308; and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had also served on the Friona Cemetery Board. Survivors include one son, Ralph Raymond Reed and his wife, Mary of Friona; two daughters, Patsy Bandy and her husband, Eugene of Friona; and Roberta Flapper and her husband, Bill of Pampa. Also, two sisters, Geneiva Stanley of Friona and Irene Shirley of Greensboro, North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Bud in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Beddie Boggess; two brothers, Glen and Eugene Boggess; one sister, Thelma Johnson; one grandson, Max Reed; one grandson-in-law, Bobby Brisco and one great-granddaughter, Jami Bandy. Pallbearers were her grandson and grandsons-in-law, David Reed, Todd Bandy, Clay Bandy, Johnny Bandy, Doug Watson, Tommy Watson, Garvin Thorn, Jake Couch and Charlie Taylor.
