Bio
Barbara J. Kriz, 76, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. She was born July 19, 1937 at Ainsworth, Nebraska to Virgil and Ruth (Brown) Thornton. She married Leo Kriz on September 3, 1956. Barbara was a member of Rebekah Lodge, served for many years as a judge at the Box Butte County Fair, and also served on the cemetery and library boards in Hemingford. She retired from the Hemingford Community Care Center where she had worked for many years. Barbara is survived by her children, Cindy Davies of Hemingford, Kathy (Jeff) McGowan of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Terry (Steve) Cullan of Medford, Oregon, John Kriz and his special friend Margaret McClure of Hemingford, and Tim (Laurel) Kriz of Hemingford. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Jan) Thornton of Kansas; and her sisters, Ginger Lower of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Gladys (Jim) Lurz of Ainsworth, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her great granddaughter. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hemingford Cemetery with Pastor Teri Lucas officiating. Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Hemingford is in charge of the arrangements.
