Ursula was born on Nov. 25, 1927 in Kiel, Germany. She grew up in Itzehoe, Germany and studied music and voice at the Conservatory of Music in Hamburg, Germany. At age 20, Ursula arrived in the United States. She married Irvine A. Obermiller in August, 1948 and lived in Loup City, NE for six years. She then moved to Omaha and graduated from the Nebraska Cosmetology School in 1959. She worked there as a cosmetologist and also sang in several Omaha clubs. In Nov. 1969, Ursula married Paul R. Mayhew and moved to St. Louis, MO, where she graduated from the John R. Powers Fashion Modeling School. She lived in St. Louis for many years and worked as a cosmetologist and model at Famous Barr, Stix Baer & Fuller and Goldman's Department Stores. She also taught Fashion Color Analysis. Ursula and her husband moved to Sun City, Arizona and lived there until his death in 1982. Ursula then lived on the east coast and Florida before returning to Nebraska in late 2004. Ursula enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe. She never left her home without being impeccably dressed. Ursula also enjoyed singing, playing the piano, sewing and painting. She loved good coffee and dessert, especially chocolate. She loved the sea and enjoyed swimming. Ursula was strong, smart, fearless and fiercely independent. Ursula had a soft spot in her heart for small children and animals and cherished her dog, Fluffy.
