Bio

Otto M. Patterson, Jr., 78, of McGregor, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, in a Waco hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013, in the Meridian Cemetery with Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Otto was born in Meridian, Texas, to the late Otto Sr. and Magerlen Patterson. He was known to his friends as Pat and to his family as Junior. He graduated from Meridian High School and was drafted in the U. S. Army, serving throughout Europe. After completing his military service, Otto worked in retail managment for Sears and met his future wife, Jean Lee. They were married August 23, 1960, in Garland, Texas. The family settled in McGregor where he was very involved in his children's activities. Otto earned his Bachelor of Science deree in Industrial Arts from Tarleton State University in 1976. He retired from Sears in the 1980's. Post-retirement activities included working for the McGregor ISD and ranching. He enjoyed golf, all sports and the many activities of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jean, of McGregor; sons, Damon and wife, Nancy, of Burleson, and Kenneth and wife, Karen, of Waco; grandchildren, Whitley Patterson, Seaman Apprentice Damon Patterson, Jr., and Kristen Patterson; brother, Danny Patterson and wife, Judy, of Clifton; sisters, Blanche Knapek and husband, Louis, of Taylor, Peggy Tankersley and husband, Bobby, of Burleson, and Lou Ann Hildebrand and husband, Don, of The Colony; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
