Bio

Janice "Jan" Sue Burress, 62 of Huntsville, passed away December 2, 2004, at her home. Born in the Paint Rock community, December 27, 1941, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lonnie and Liza Jane Yancey Duncan and John and Liza Dyer Hall; her first husband, James Alton Bates; two brothers, Hubert Benny Hall and Thomas Lee Hall; and one nephew, Derek Buttram. She served as Scott County Circuit Court Clerk for 10 years; and was a member of Mighty Warrior Ministries. She is survived by her parents, Sam and Marine Hall; two daughters: Debbie Phillips and husband, Tony, of Huntsville, and Tracey Smith and husband, Ken, of Knoxville; two sons: Randy Bates of Huntsville and Jason Burress of Helenwood; nine grandchildren, two brothers: Rick Hall and wife, Denita, of Johnson City, and Bill Hall and wife, Sue, of Oneida; three sisters: Sheila Buttram and husband, Denzil, and Teresa Sexton and husband, Tony, all of the Paint Rock community, and Sharon Marcum and husband, James Roy, of the Pine Creek community; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted December 5, at Paint Rock Baptist Church with Bro. Dean Barnes and Bro. Randy Bates officiating. Internment followed in Sexton Memorial Cemetery.
