Bio

Hester's family moved from Cuming co, NE to Norfolk, NE when she was a young girl. Her father worked as a blacksmith. She married Henry Koerber around 1917. They lived in Norfolk, NE and Dixon county, NE before moving to Spencer, NE in the 1920's. Hester and Henry separated around 1938, she and some of the children moved to Oakland, CA where she worked as a housekeeper. After a short time there, she moved to Lincoln, NE and worked as a telephone operator and later as a cook at the Nobbman Rest Home. They remained separated but never divorced. She is buried next to Henry in Union Cemetery. Henry and Hester had children: Mary Kerbel, Robert, Hazel, Joseph and Irene Peniska.
