Bio

Albertina was the wife of Lars Gunderson. They were married around 1874 in Denmark. Albertina and Lars immigrated to the U.S. from Denmark arriving on 7 Oct 1880 aboard the ship "Kohn" at Baltimore, MD. They arrived with their two daughters, Caroline (Ethel), age 3, & Hulda age 1 month. First settling in Chicago, IL and later moving to Ulysses, NE and then in 1885 settling on a farm in Wausa, Knox co, NE where they stayed for a number of years. They moved to Magnet, Cedar co, NE and finally to Boyd co, NE in Morton Twp and farmed there until their sons, Harry and Charles, took over the farming duties. Lars and Albertina had twelve children: Ethel (Mrs. Robert W.) Wilkins (born 1877 in Denmark but census records say Illinois), Hulda (Mrs. Chris) Larson, Chris W. (birth record says Johan), Frank P. (buried Bellwood Cem., NE), Fred, Mabel Emma (Mrs. Henry W.) Buller, Harry, Charles and two that died before 1900 and two others whose names do not appear on the available census records. Note: Her husband Lars was still living on the farm in 1930 with his sons, Harry & Charles. In 1940, Harry and Charles are still located on the farm. It is possible that Lars passed away between 1930 & 40 and is buried in an unmarked grave next to Albertina?
