Bio

Kenneth Hoeppner was the son of Louis and Mary (Reimer) Hoeppner. He attended Osmond Public Schools and graduated from Osmond High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from June 21, 1955 to June 20, 1958. He married Marilyn Ordway at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce on Feb. 6, 1966. A truck driver by occupation, Kenneth and Marilyn lived in Osmond where Kenneth worked for Theisen Brothers Construction. The couple then moved to Norfolk in 1968, where Kenneth then worked for Affiliated Foods for 37 years, retiring in 2004. They moved up to Pierce in 2007. Kenneth and Marilyn enjoyed attending craft shows. Kenneth was an avid card player, enjoyed playing pool, and three-wheeling with his son. He attended Thursday morning gatherings with the Affiliated coffee group at Hy-Vee. Kenneth passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. Services were conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. The Rev. Casey Lienemann officiated and military rites were conducted by Tomek-Otto Post 72 American Legion, Pierce, and U.S. Army Honors Guard. Survivors include one son and wife, of Pierce; and granddaughter; one brother, of Bellwood; two sisters, Shirley Greiner of Seward and Hilda Wecker of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn on Jan. 9, 2008; five sisters and three brothers, two in infancy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
