OBITUARY Mrs. Mary Svoboda died at her home on Sunday, May 30th at 7:45 p. m., death being due to illness with heart trouble and had been ailing over a year. Deceased was born in Bohemia 67 years ago. She came to America in 1870 and settled on a farm three and a half miles northeast of town. She moved to a farm one mile north about twelve years ago and later removed to New Prague. She was married in this city to Jacob Svoboda on Nov. 6, 1873. Her husband preceded her to the grave in March, 1918. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Frank Horejsi, Mrs. H. Penners, Mrs. Joseph Matyas, Mrs. F. J. Pesek; two sons, Henry of Mendota, Minn., and Frank of Washington. One son also preceded her to the grave quite a number of years ago. She is also survived by three brothers, Albert, John and Joseph Kubes of Taunton, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Kostal of Lonsdale and Mrs. Joseph Jirek of Montgomery. The funeral was held from St. Wenceslaus Catholic church on Wednesday, June 2nd, at 10 o’clock. The Sacred Heart of Jesus Society, of which deceased was a member, marched with the funeral in a body.
