Bio

William Lafayette Black was the youngest son of Oliver H.P. Black and Nancy Miller Winston. He was raised in Pontotoc, Mississippi and married Annie Pearl Gandy on September 24, 1898 in Tupelo. They settled in Nettleton, Mississippi where William farmed and they raised two sons. In addition to farming, William taught music and tuned pianos. He was an accomplished violinist, playing by ear. William spent his last years living with his two sons in Bastrop and Springhill, Louisiana. He died in Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana in 1941.
